Beginning on October 1, 2017, the city of Fairmont will have a 0.5 percent voter-approved sales and use tax. The local sales tax will apply to all retail sales made within the city of Fairmont. The use tax will apply to all taxable items used in the city where local sales tax was not paid.
All retailers who are doing business in Fairmont and are registered for Minnesota sales tax must also register for the local option sales tax.
