We are better when we work together and promote together. The re-imagined Fairmont Area Life will be a one-stop-shop for all things Fairmont. Showcasing through photos and guest articles what it’s like to work, shop, eat, play and live in the Fairmont area. This is a visual resource with top-level information that can then direct locals, visitors, or those looking to relocate to the correct website or information source for deeper info.
• Send us photos of your business, non-profit, community events, etc. We want to create a partner network and have a place to promote everything together.
• Submit a guest blog/article. We want to share what living and working in Fairmont is like from people who are doing it. Share an article on what running a small business is like, an experience volunteering for a non-profit, an itinerary of your perfect Fairmont weekend. Share your Fairmont experience.
• Add Fairmont Area Life as a co-host on your Facebook event! This will add your event to our community Facebook event calendar.
• Spread the word! Share our posts. Engage with our posts. Help spread the positivity in Fairmont.
WHY CHOOSE THE FAIRMONT AREA?
We have great educational facilities that include public and private K-12 schools and Presentation College, a focused health professional campus. The Fairmont Opera House, Red Rock Center for the Arts and The Pioneer Museum enrich our local culture. This area is home to a wide array of recreational facilities including 3 golf courses, the Chain of Lakes Yacht Club, Center Creek Orchard, the Fairmont Aquatic Park and Flying Goose Campground. Medical facilities are available to serve residents of all ages. Local realtors will showcase available housing in and around our cities and towns. New housing opportunities are planned for the near future.
WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
If you would like to relocate to Martin County, a unique opportunity awaits you! A team of professionals has been assembled to help eliminate any challenges you may face. These professionals are ready to connect you with local schools, employers and realtors or answer any questions you may have.
HOW CAN I HELP AS A BUSINESS OWNER?
Today’s job seekers place a high value on quality of life, and Martin County has a high quality of life to offer. Fairmont Area Life is a great way for your new or prospective hire to see why we love living in Martin County, and why they will too! Send them to our website, www.FairmontAreaLife.com, where they can find videos, testimonials and resources to help them get the most out of their new community. Having trouble filling a position? You can use our website as a resource for recruiting through your website, on social media, or in job listings. When you do hire, or you become aware of a newcomer to our community, let us know! We would love to extend our welcome, help them make the connections they need to get involved in our community, and help them feel at home in Martin County.
HOW CAN I HELP AS A RESIDENT?
A welcoming community is part of what makes the Fairmont area such a great place to live! Reach out to those new neighbors down the street. Introduce yourself, tell them about the resources available in our community, invite them to an event, and send them to our website: www.FairmontAreaLife.com! Tell them about “Newcomers and Neighbors,” a community program that meets every 5th Thursday, where they can have some fun while connecting with people and organizations in our area. Remember to let them know about all the great resources available to them at our Chamber office, including brochures, maps, phone books and more! Let’s work together to make this the warmest community in the upper Midwest!
HOW CAN WE RETAIN LOCAL GRADUATES?
There is an abundance of opportunity for local high school graduates to build a successful career right here in the Fairmont area! An effort to inform students and parents of these opportunities is now underway. The CareerWISE literature was developed through a cooperative effort between the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce and the Fairmont Economic Development Authority (FEDA). Key information on current workforce trends and in-demand careers in Southwestern Minnesota are presented along with resources for individuals to research local job openings, career cross-sections, and educational options. The back of the flyer features local opportunities for high school graduates to connect with apprenticeships, on-the-job training and tuition assistance programs from area businesses and organizations.
