It was “a huge breath of fresh air and optimism for the future.” The description came from an attendee of the 2015 Fairmont Area Chamber’s Annual Banquet held Thursday evening, February 25th at Holiday Inn. Perfect! That was the message we were hoping to convey.
Chamber Board and Committee members, both past and present were recognized. A summary of financials, programs and events was brief and informative. As in past years, the recognition ceremony honored past board members and 2015 committee chairs, but beginning last year a salute was given to outstanding chamber members in three categories: Large Business of the Year (over 15 employees); Small Business of the Year (15 employees and under); and Rising Star (less than three years in business).
Nominations were held earlier this year. To be considered for an award, the organization must set the standards for excellence and innovation with their business practices and community involvement and must be a member in good standing at the time of nomination through date of ceremony. The top 3 in each category were highlighted at the event.
Large Business of the Year Nominees: Mayo Clinic Health System – Fairmont, Profinium, Inc. and Valero Renewables – Welcome Plant
Small Business of the Year Nominees: Carstensen Cabinetry & Woodworking, Cup N Saucer and Seifried Portrait Designs
Rising Star (New) Business of the Year Nominees: Align Chiropractic & Acupuncture, PLC, Cup N Saucer and Fairmont CrossFit
More than 1000 votes indicated the organizations that received top honors which revealed a surprising twist! Mayo received the plaque for Large Business of the Year and Cup ‘N Saucer took home TWO titles: Small Business of the Year and Rising Star Business of the Year.
