ABOVE: Parade-goers witness a stunning display of holiday cheer as floats and vehicles embellished with lights, signs and musical accompaniment kick off the holiday season at the Fairmont Glows Parade.
Santa and Mrs. Claus, direct from the North Pole, will be arriving at the Fairmont Municipal Airport via the North Pole Express around 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17th. Everyone is invited to greet this special arrival. Gather the kids, grab those Christmas wish-lists, and head over to the airport for a chance to meet the jolly elf himself. Don’t forget to bring your camera.
Join us along Downtown Plaza later in the evening as we kick off the holiday season with the annual Glows Parade, complete with pre and post-parade activities. The Immanuel Lutheran Church will be serving Chili and Oyster Stew from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at 1200 North North Avenue. The Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention (MCSAP) Coalition will be hosting a Youth Fun Night at the Martin County Youth for Christ Lighthouse, 213 Downtown Plaza, until 9:30 pm. All Martin County youth are invited to join them during and after the parade. The Blazer Bar & Grill will host live music by Lance Allen as well as food and drink specials following the parade. The Fairmont Opera House will be holding their Subscription Series event titled “Letters Home” beginning at 7:30 pm.The Red Rock Center for the Arts will be serving cider and goodies at their free “Festival of Wreaths” Open House from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. UHD Home Health & Hospice, 99 Downtown Plaza, will be serving hot chocolate 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
The Glows Parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. Come and experience this brilliant display of holiday cheer featuring wonderful floats, thousands of lights, and the appearance of Santa on the 28th anniversary of the Fairmont Glows Parade.
