Congratulations Weston & Will!

Weston Loughmiller (left) is from Fairmont and is currently attending the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with a major in Applied Economics. Will Niestrath (right) is from Fairmont and plans to attend Murray State University in Kentucky with major in animal science.

The Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Committee partners with Agriculture Future of America to award two scholarships to Martin County students entering a field of study in agriculture. Each recipient receives a scholarship and the opportunity to attend the AFA Leaders Conference.

To qualify for a scholarship, applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be a senior entering their freshman year or current undergrad in a 4 year college program and planning to pursue a career in food or agriculture. The Agri-Business committee meets to review the applications and interview the candidates. From this process, two scholarships are awarded each year.
